Invincible Hut

Hut in Snow
Our cosy wee hut is perched at 1650m, and set above a remote mountain valley miles from any other sign of human activity.  It’s insulated with wool and heated by a potbelly stove that cranks out serious warmth from our supply of firewood.  Built in 1995 the hut is simple in design yet snug and functional.  Gas cooking facilities are provided, as are basic cooking utensils, plates, mugs and cutlery.  Cook up a storm and then eat around the large table in the middle of the room.  Couches line 2 walls, there’s plenty of drying space for your gear and the view from the verandah is phenomenal.  The sleeping area is a mezzanine floor accessed by a fixed ladder.  Ten mattresses and pillows are provided—you can arrange them as you see fit and then roll out your sleeping bag.  The hut is situated a third of the way up the tow, so you can call in on your way past for a cuppa or a breather.  The Invincible Hut is a genuine NZ backcountry experience, offering a chance to overnight in real  wilderness.
